![]() As a Springfield resident I have always tried to verbally encourage people to use your services. This has been that way since before this site was under new management. ![]() As a customer, I had booked 3-5 trips every summer, with 4 parties. To that gentleman, I apologize for my apparent rude interruption. I am posting this in case the gentleman I talked to (or was yelled at for calling), was an employee, not the owner. I called (yes five times over 30 minutes, and got an answer on the fifth call), and because of my apparent "excessive calling" I have been told to no longer use their services " in a not nice way". The website says to call for advanced notice on 16 mile trips. Well after using this outfitter spot for over 10 yrs, I was just rudely yelled over the phone. Sharing a post I put on the Mad River Adventures page on FB. Also, the water treatment facility run-off is into this river and bacteria levels increase after rains due to flooding. Which does run you through the south side of Springfield so be warned. Other than that, I always have a relaxing time. The river is quick and deep in some spots and I have had to rescue a kid or two more than once. I don't recommend kids go down this river adventure after it has rained. The river is dangerous, extremely so after a good rain. I have never had any problems with the property owners along the river, even when we stop as long as we stay close to the river. I also know Springfield well and know that you have to keep your eyes open and watch out for craziness. I have raised my kids on that river, they have all been Canoeing since they were five or six and have moved up to Kayaks. I know that I am riding "at your own risk", but the staff is always friendly, and we are warned about the rivers conditions before we pay. ![]() For one thing I am a Springfield Native, and Mad River has been my traquility for my entire life.
